Anna-Eva Bergman: Fragments of Nature offers an engaging introduction to Bergman’s artistic practice and visual world. Her work is characterised by a distinctive materiality, with copper, gold and silver foil lending her images a tactile and sensual presence, while surface and light are as important as form. Anna-Eva Bergman (1909–1987) is regarded as one of the most significant artists of Nordic modernism.
The book features an essay and afterword by art historian Hilde Mørch, with a foreword by artist and art collector Morten Viskum. This edition builds on the sold-out first edition published in 2022 and has been expanded with new visual material, updated design and a newly written afterword. In it, Hilde Mørch explores the significant activity and growing interest surrounding Bergman’s work between 2022 and 2025.
The first edition was launched in conjunction with the exhibition Anna-Eva Bergman at Galleri Star, Vestfossen Kunstlaboratorium, presented by Morten Viskum.
The book is richly illustrated with works from a number of significant collections, including Kunstsilo / the Tangen Collection, the National Museum and the Fondation Hartung-Bergman.
A beautifully produced hardback, cloth-bound and featuring a cover image printed on shimmering silver paper. Designed, printed and bound in Norway, using FSC-certified paper.
